Got a new computer with windows 7 and 64 bit and my usb spyder will not work. My pantone colorvision software runs but no 64 bit driver for the spyder. Where can i get the 64 bit dtiver for my spyder 2. Looked on pantones website (which has changed ownership??) cannot find 64 bit driver for older spyder. Display calibration and profiling with a focus on accuracy and versatility.
I have an old Pantone Colorvision Spyder that comes with PhotoCAL software. The Spyder includes sensors for LCD screens. I've been reading mixed review about how well this works on Windows 7 64. Some say update the software (I cannot find the update link) and it works well, while others say updating does not good. I think I might have even read a message (not sure) that the old software can be use. Any of you have experience with this?
Also, in Windows there are some prermade profiles. Even though I've dealt with profiles before, I'm getting very confused in there. What I'd like to do before trying to device is to load an existing profile that might work well, but the term 'associate' and the interface confuse me. Any easy tips? Which Spyder do you have? My guess is that it might be version 1 (branded Colorvision Spyder) and you are probably SOL as far as 64-bit drivers are concerned--my oldest Spyder (lableled Colorvision Monitor Spyder with Photocal) has suction cups on it as the way of attaching the sensor to the crt monitor and the newer Datacolor branded Spyders don't have the suction cups.
Take a look at this page (for pics of what my older version looks like (scroll down a bit) and here's another image (If you have at least the Spyder 2, then the 'Spyder2, version 2.3.5' driver (might well work with Win7--the description ref's XP and Vista (both 32 and 64 bit). If you scroll down to the bottom of the Spyder master windows driver list (you'll also see the Spyder2 Pro driver listed (along with the driver I linked to above). At the top of either of the linked pages, there are links to submitting a ticket and you might do that asking what's available for the Spyder version you have--generally I have found datacolor support quite responsive.
